Bowie-Crofton Camera Club

Promoting Photographic Skill and Enjoyment
Throughout Central and Southern Maryland.

Candy Factory Field Trip

On November 5, the Bowie-Crofton Camera Club will be taken on a private guided tour of the Harper Macaw chocolate factory by the owner, Colin Hartman. Colin will take us step by step from the bean-to-bar chocolate making process in his Washington, DC factory. Colin will also give us the history behind making chocolates from selecting the best cocoa beans to the end process that gives his products the richest flavor and quality of any chocolate around.

We can walk freely through the facility to photograph everything that is used to make the assortment of chocolate products. The Harper Macaw tours have gotten 5-Star ratings online by it’s visitors and customers.

At the end of the tour, the Camera Club will go to the tasting room to sample some of Harper Macaw’s finest chocolates.

Similar to the Vineyard tour the Club took a few years ago, the production of chocolate is done during the week not on the weekends but there’s plenty to see and photograph!

Colin suggested, if anyone has the time during the week (Mon. -Fri.), we can set up a separate tour where you can photograph the actual production of the chocolate.

There’s an on-site store available for all you chocolate lovers out there and to help with your holiday gift
shopping.

Cost: $20 per person
Minimum tour attendees: 10
Maximum tour attendees: 24

What to Bring:
