B-CCC Travels to Cass Scenic Mountain Railroad, in Cass, West Virginia - October 3-5
B-CCC will travel to Cass, West Virginia, on the weekend of October 3rd thru 5th, to ride the Cass Scenic Mountain Railroad. We'll be taking a 5-hour train ride up the mountain to Bald Knob (elevation 4,842 feet), the third highest point in West Virginia. The railroad uses historic Shay steam engines, which were designed to climb the steepest grades and swing around hairpin curves. And we'll be there just in time for the height of the fall foliage season in this part of the state.
Here are some details:
We will head out on Friday, October 3rd, and stay until Sunday, October 5th. Our scheduled train ride departs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4th. I have already reserved a block of seats for the train, as well as some limited lodging in Cass at one of the "company houses" at the bottom of the mountain. Cost for the train ride is $30.00 per person. The company houses can only accomodate 6 people. If you are one of those people, the cost for your lodging will be $54.00, which covers both Friday and Saturday nights. Since reservations and payments had to be made in advance, please give me a check for your train ride and lodging (if in the company house) to me as soon as possible. For those who will require other lodging, there is a list of possible places below.
