Field Trip to Udvar-Hazy Center in Northern Virginia - Feb. 2, 2008
Don't spend Ground Hog Day out in the snow looking for rodents. Come along instead to B-CCC's monthly scheduled field trip! This one, on the 2nd of February, is to the Smithsonian's Udvar-Hazy Center, located in northern Virginia next to Dulles Airport. For those who are unfamiliar with this museum, Udvar-Hazy is part of the Air and Space Museum, and houses such large and historic flight craft as the Concord, the Space Shuttle Enterprise, the Enola Gay, and much more. There is also a tower overlooking the runways of Dulles Airport from which you can photograph aircraft taking off and landing . We'll all stay warm on this February Saturday while enjoying great photographic opportunities and learning about the history of flight as well.
As with all Smithsonian museums, admission to the Udvar-Hazy Center is free. However, there is a $12.00 parking fee, so car-pooling is recommended. Due to strict security regulations, tripods are not allowed in the museum. All bags will be inspected at the entrance. Also forbidden are pen knives, aerosol cans, and any food or drink. There is a food court in the museum where we can purchase lunch.
Doors open at 10:00 a.m., so we'll meet at the front door at that time. If you would like to join us, contact Vince Ferrari at vincentferrari@gmail.com, or by phone at 301-249-2210. For more information about the museum, you can find them on the web at: http://www.nasm.si.edu/museum/udvarhazy/
