On Sunday, November 1st, B-CCC will visit the Potomac Eagle Railroad, in Romney, W.Va. to ride on the “Railroad Photo Special”. The Potomac Eagle offers one of the country’s most scenic train rides, traveling along the South Branch of the Potomac River. You will almost certainly see bald eagles in their native habitat, and have a host of other great opportunities for photos as well. The Photo Special is actually two train rides for the price of one. The first leaves the station at Romney at 10:00 a.m, and travels northbound along the river, to return to Romney at 12:30 p.m. Then, we board the 1:00 southbound train, which will return to Romney between 5:00 and 6:00 that evening. Several photo stops will take place, weather permitting. Also, there is usually an open car (no roof) that makes an excellent platform for photography while the train us underway.
The fare for this excursion is $40.00 for adults, or $37.00 for seniors. Children under 16 are $10.00, and under 6 are free. This is a discounted price for the Railroad Photo Special, as you get both train rides for the same price as a regular 3-hour ride. You can order the tickets ahead (recommended) by calling 304-424-0736. There are several options for lodging in the area. A list will be sent to those interested in the trip. Romney is less than a 3-hour drive from the Bowie area.
